Lhasa Apso Canada had its beginnings in Quebec in 1973. Five Lhasa owners in Montreal who used to meet up the the shows decided to form a club in 1973. The club was known the as the Lhasa Apso Club of Quebec/Le Club Lhasa Apso de Quebec. These five members became the founding members of Lhasa Apso Canada. Two of these original members are still active in the club - Arlene Miller and Ann-Marie Adderley.
The first venture in the the ring as a club was a 1974 Booster with an entry of fourteen - this was in reality the first Canadian Booster Show. This was followed in 1975 by the first Canadian Specialty. This Specialty had an entry of 33 dogs - quite amazing given today's low entry numbers!
In 1977, the non-Quebec membership outnumbered the Quebecois so the club name was changed to the name we know it as now - Lhasa Apso Canada.
From these beginnings we've grown to have members in all the Canadian provinces, a few Americans and International members have joined us as well.
We host an annual Specialty each year.
